This EP is directly influenced by and based upon the three apocalypse films by horror director John Carpenter. "The Thing", "Prince of Darkness", & "In the Mouth of Madness" (a.k.a. the Apocalypse Trilogy) are three films that resonate with a very deep existential horror theme and dares question what is it to be human in a mad universe.
Musically we attempt to capture the essence of these films' underlying themes. For example: one's fears and violent paranoia from isolation and mistrust in other humans, with the overall feeling of dread and an unearthly presence looming.
The short and chaotic but direct affirmation of one's place in the universe when questioning the existence of an anti-god in the realm of anti-matter by use of scientific theory weighing upon religious dogma.
Even in the slow turbulent downfall into insanity. Interpreting one's grasp upon reality when that reality is in itself is questionable, and the overwhelming feeling of being consumed by it begs the question of what is real.

These are the themes we attempted to convey in the music while giving lyrical loose synopsis and interpretations to each of the film's plots.
It is a complete homage to the films and a tribute to the aesthetics of Carpenters' unique style.
Musically it's allowed Massacre to move into new musical territory and influences, but overall still retaining that classic old-school death metal approach.

From the style and feel of the intro track: "Into The Tri-pocalypse" through the three new EP tracks we attempt to resonate that certain Carpenter vibe.
We also incorporate the outro track "Escape the End of the World" to bookend the new material. Written by composer and long-time collaborator Rob Reider specifically for this EP as a complete homage to the style of Carpenter's music and sound, giving off a complete "Escape from New York" vibe.

Also included for those who order the EP here are the two *Bonus tracks* which are the completely redone & remixed versions of the tracks "They Never Die" & "Beyond the Dunwich Hills" with completely new intros to give it that extra horror film feeling.
