RE: AfterWinter to release sophomore album ‘Boundless’

Date: February 16, 2026

Roxx Records is once again excited to be working with AfterWinter to release their sophomore effort this Spring. You may recall the very adventurous double CD set we released as the bands debut album entitled ‘Paramnesia’ in 2023. AfterWinter features the core band that created the music on both of the exceptional BioGenesis albums, ‘A Decadence Divine’ and ‘Black Widow’.

This new album, while a little more "normal" than Paramnesia, still retains the core elements of the band's established sound. The songs are sometimes a little shorter, the arrangements are sometimes a little more traditional, but with just enough AfterWinter 'weirdness' to maintain the progressive metal mantle even so.

With the loss of their lead vocalist Jerry Grazios, who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2024, the lyrical content of these songs took a drastic shift towards what was now laid on the band’s hearts and minds - loss. There are a lot of things we hear Christian people say when it comes to the loss of loved ones. Many of those things, while we believe them to be true, can be found only vaguely helpful in figuring out how to continue living our lives without the people who passed away. When thinking of what could make me feel better, one thing kept occurring to me over and over - peace. It comforted me to think of Jerry being at peace. I wanted my mind and my feelings to be at peace too. Therefore, nature imagery kept coming to me. When I thought of earthly peace, I kept picturing a lake surrounded by trees under a sunny sky, removed from civilization, away from all the noise, physical and psychological. I feel my connection to God strengthen without all of the other distractions. A lot of the lyrics on the album follow this imagery, and the album even has a full minute of nothing but nature sounds (recorded at exactly the same spot the album cover picture was taken) at the very end. A sort of reminder that the end goal of moving on beyond pain of any kind is just that - peace.

Without Jerry, the bands sound has changed, but will still feel familiar. In addition to Luke Nealeigh’s normal work as producer and lead guitarist, he now took over the male lead vocal role rather than replacing Jerry, so long term fans should recognize his voice from the first song AfterWinter ever released - "Regression". With Majennica Nealeigh remaining as co-lead vocalist, as well as Sam Nealeigh on keyboard, James Riggs on rhythm guitar, Eli Closson on Drums, and Dan Nealeigh on bass guitar, the core of what makes AfterWinter sound the way it does has remained intact. This album became even more important to us, not only to deliver an acceptable follow up to Paramnesia and promote how our faith interacts with real life problems, but to honor and remember Jerry. We hope that the themes explored on this album will help those dealing with loss like all of us in the band have over the last couple of years. Nothing can ever really make it ok, but maybe we can help to provide comfort and peace through God.
